There are two types of extractions that we routinely perform in our office, routine and surgical. Routine extractions are performed on defective teeth that require removal and may not have much structural damage. Surgical extractions are necessary when things aren’t so simple. When a tooth presents challenges like fracture below the level of the bone or impaction, for instance, more invasive methods need to be used. In some cases, it may be necessary for the gum tissue to be incised or the jaw bone to be removed. We are more than happy to answer any questions you have about the type of extraction you need if the need to remove a tooth arises.
